Waitlists: joining, auto-promotion and positions

A popular class fills up and members still want in. Our waitlist keeps them in an orderly line and promotes the next person automatically the moment a seat opens, so the front desk never has to chase it.

1. When the waitlist opens. A class shows as Full once every seat is taken. From that point the booking page offers the waitlist in place of a normal booking, so members can still put their name down.
2. Joining the line. A member who joins is added in the order they signed up and given a position. Number 1 is next in line for the next open seat.
3. A waitlist spot holds no seat. Waiting doesn't reserve a place in the room and takes nothing from the member: no card charge, and no class credit is used while they wait.
4. Add someone from the desk. When a class is full and a member asks us in person, we can add them to the waitlist the same way we would book them into a class.
5. A seat frees, the next person moves in. When someone cancels, the member at the top of the line is promoted into the open seat automatically and we let them know. Nobody at the desk has to do it by hand.
6. Positions shift up. Everyone behind the promoted member moves up one place. A member can see their own place in the line, so they always know where they stand.
7. Leaving costs nothing. A member can drop off the waitlist at any time at no cost. Because the spot was never charged, there is nothing to refund.
